Computers

Our members are heavily involved in all aspects of computing, but our main focus is on coding/programming. We are agnostic as far as platforms/languages are concerned, but most modern programming is focused on object-oriented languages such as C++/C#/Java, Python, Javascript, Rust, etc.  One of our members has recently gone on a data science binge and is learning tools of this relatively new industry such as R and Python with NumPy.

As far as operating systems are concerned, we are known to run a wide variety, ranging from Windows, macOS, chromeOS, FreeBSD and even Haiku (BeOS clone), but our main operating system of choice is none other than GNU/Linux. For those interested in taking a plunge down this rabbit hole, we heartily recommend the Debian-based distros such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint, although if you are a novice computer user that is just beginning this journey, Linux Mint  or Zorin OS are probably the best choices.  If anyone needs a quick introduction or help regarding install GNU/Linux on a computer, hit us up. Our contact details are on the Contact tab.
